6:30-8:30pm - Show begins promptly at 7pm

The Mule, 4915 NE Fremont

*Grownups only (21+)

Come listen as 5 Alameda Elementary parents tell humorous and heart-warming stories from their own childhoods. In between the stories, you'll learn about how advocacy for the big bucks works at the state level.

You probably know that a healthy relationship with even just one skilled, caring grownup at school can positively impact the entire trajectory of a kid’s life. So why has Oregon been cutting school district budgets for decades? That's left us with a lot fewer grownups in the buildings and a host of other issues.

We can't bakesale our way out of this problem, but we can learn just enough to be a little dangerous and raise some hell. You'll walk away knowing a) how much money we're talking about, b) who makes the decisions, c) why we are where we are, and d) what we can do about it.

Grab a beer, some food, and join us.

SNEAK PEEK

  • Marissa will tell us about the voicemail from an unknown caller that changed her life when she was 15.

  • Carly will share how her best elementary school crew decided whether to open the circle to a new girl in middle school.

  • Caitlin will tell us what it was like being a California girl spending her sophomore year at a conservative private school in Ireland.

  • Tyler will share how he built something special with his dad for Oregon Outdoor School in 6th grade, but left with something even more special.

  • Jen will tell us what she had to give up in the 5th grade–and what she couldn’t believe she got in return.
